Driers

COBALT : It is a primary surface drier and generally used in combination with other metals. The strong surface drying property is used with advantage in wrinkle finishes.

CERIUM : This rear earth drier promotes through drying and also good in polymerisation action. It is superior to zirconium, lead. It has tendency to yellow and promotes skin formation in the container.

LEAD : This drier helps in through drying and also polymerisation. It has a tendency to form haze in alkyds and is to be used with calcium.

CALCIUM & ZINC : These are auxiliary driers and quite good in presence of active driers like cobalt, calcium prevents haze formation of lead in alkyd. Zinc acts as rotprofing agent. Both driers are powerful dispersing and wetting agents for pigments.

IRON : It has a very little action in air drying finishes. It is very active in stoving finishes and for B.N.S.L & C.N.S.L finishes.

COPPER : Copper posses considerable fungicidal and insecticidal properties. It protects timber, plywood, fabrics, tarpaulins. The % normality retained should be 0.5 Cu. It is also available in emulsifiable concentrate, which can be diluted with water.

ZIRCONIUM : This drier can be used to replace lead . It is to be used with cobalt . it gives better colour and retention.

POLYSTERS : Range of polyester resins suitable for fibre glass moulding, lamination grade and other are produced. NARCHEM polyester catalyst is used with organic peroxides to accelerate curing of polyesters.

LUBRICANT

ADDITIVES :Extreme pressure sensitive additives for gear oil and greases , rust inhibiting products are offered.

PRESERVATIVES : In can container and for interior & exterior surface for oil bound distemper, emulsion paints
NOSKIN : Antiskinning agent to prevent Skin formation in container.

NARSPERSE : The unique dispersing agent for heavily loaded pigments like fat oil paints and wood, cement redoxide primers .

NARPACT PASTE : Excellent loss of dry inhibitor on storage to be added during mil base grinding can be used 0.5% to 2% on pigments used in paints like red black, white etc.

In addition to the above mentioned driers we also offer carboxlates of nickel , lithium , potassium , chromium , silver , gold and others.

HOW to calculate the requirements of drier.

% Solid alkyl enamel   X

%metal required

= Drier required

% metal in drier

suppose the solid alkyd in enamel , then assuming that 6% of Co is to be used to the extent of  0.03% on 100 % solid alkyd then
(30 x 0.03)/6 = 0.15 i.e. for enamel containing 50% of solid and 60% of alkyd we 6 require 0.15 of 6% cobalt drier.
